Travel Maximus

Evergreen of Virginia Beach and Historic Washington D.C.

Hello! You are with me in the East Coast.

I purchased the plane ticket a while back. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well at the time of departure. I was not able to negotiate in anyway with the airline due to the fact that the ticket was purchased as ‘Web’ price. As the saying goes, “use it or basically, lose it”. I used it.

Under the weather, I refused to give in and remained stationary, I went for the East Coast. ,I have never been to the East Coast. I wanted to do road trip along the eastern States and experience its rich history.

Beach view from Virginia Beach Hotel. Absolutely breathless. Arrived at around 2:30 AM and this is the view awaited for me in the morning.

Virginia Beach is where Navy Seals are trained. On the beach and along the boardwalk, there are some military recruiting stands.

Bill is our Lyft driver and also a retired Helicopter pilot. He has four children and six grandchildren. Bill drove us to get the rental car.

After 4 hour drive, we are in Washington D.C. Let’s check out Abe Lincoln and the Memorials.

What does one do at midnight in DC? check out the Memorials – nocturnal style! It was Amazing.

I highly recommend to visit the Monuments at night ..and day times. They are strikingly different. There is that enigma of the night that the light of day can never afford.

“Four score and seven years ago……..”

At last, I finally met Abe. It is truly majestic. One must stand before him to appreciate this magnificent statue.

Vietnam Memorial. This memorial moved me to the core for the simple reason that I and my family were in the midst of the dangerous and dodgy time.

These three band of brothers gazed out toward the Vietnam memorial wall, looking at the names of the fallen and the ones “KNOWN BUT TO GOD”

Heartbreaking messages, artifacts, memories like this brings back to gallant and bloody struggle. There is a work in progress to build a museum that houses the artifacts left at the Vietnam memorial, There was a case where a friend left a piece of bone of his fallen brother-in-arm at the memorial. All the respect and reverence to Thee.

Comes the next day,

The next day, a working day, Washington D.C. traffic is absolute chaos. On the DC metro back to the city and visit some of my favorite museums.

The Epicenter of Power.

The Natural Museum of Science. (No BioDiesel Science ;()

George Washington statue was used for President Rutherford Hayes inauguration in 1887.

Do you know what makes me happy? being Travel Maximus! That is all folks! Everyday, every living moment, I am grateful for all the opportunities afforded to me on the top side of the grass. Once I surrender myself to the other side, I have no regret but enlightenment.

Glad you still went on this trip even though you were not feeling so good. Sometimes you just have to go for it. Our time here is precious. Make the most of it.

So much do see and do back there. I used to live across the Potomac in Alexandria VA, when I was in high school. Of course we didn’t have the Metro when I was young. It’s much easier to get around now. Glad you got to check out the area!
